Are you virtual or in-person? (Both)
I offer in-person sessions in Austin at 2525 Wallingwood and at the barn in Kyle, Texas.
I also offer virtual sessions through out Texas. All you need is a stable internet connection, a quiet and private location, a smartphone or a computer equipped with a camera and a microphone. This type of therapy is a great option for those unable to attend in person due to scheduling or geographic distance. My license requires that you must physically be in the state that the clinician holds a license at the time of your appointment. If you are traveling, please let me know ahead of time so I can check the state’s requirements.
Are you accepting new clients?
I currently have openings for clients wishing to explore healing through equine therapy. I work with adults, families, and adolescents.
Do you offer a free consultation so I can make sure this is the right fit?
Absolutely. I know that finding the right therapist is all about the relationship. A therapist who is genuinely invested in your success, has strong professional boundaries, and knows when to push and when to pull back is worth their weight in gold. U offer a free 20-minute consultation to help you get a better understanding of my services, what you may be needing, and how I can better help you. If my fee is out of your budget, please talk to me. Really! I want you to get the support you need. I agree that mental health should be accessible and I do offer a hardship rate for those in need - if I don’t have one of those slots available or can’t meet your budget, I’ll work to provide a list of resources for others in town who might be able to help.
Can I use my insurance?
Like many therapy practices, I am an out-of-network provider (OON). If you’d like, I can provide a monthly statement (a ‘superbill’) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. You can also use your HSA or FSA card to pay for sessions.
How to check to see if you can use your insurance coverage:
You can call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services. Ask your insurance provider the following:
Do I have mental health coverage?
What is my yearly out-of-network deductible?
How much of my deductible has been met this year?
Once I have met my deductible, how much will I be reimbursed for a 60-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90837)?
How do I submit a claim form and how long will it take for me to receive reimbursement?
I love Reimbusify for its simplicity of filling out and submitting out-of-network claims.
Why wouldn’t I use insurance if I have it?
Insurance can be helpful, but when it comes to mental health care, it often creates more barriers than support. Many plans require you to meet a high deductible before coverage even begins and coverage can be limited. In addition, when insurance is billed, insurance companies require a formal diagnosis, proof of “medical necessity,” require that you work with therapists on their list, and sometimes even access to review your treatment and session notes. Insurance is about treating an injury to get you back to base level functioning, sadly, they system is not usually about long term health.
Private pay gives us the freedom to work with you in shaping your therapy and the space to keep our caseloads balanced so I can bring our best to each session. You receive focused care, the freedom to choose who you work with, flexibility in how long and what kind of therapy you pursue, and the ability to decide exactly who has access to your personal information.
What if I can’t make my appointment? What’s your cancellation policy?
I get it, things happen. I ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, otherwise the credit card we have on file may be charged for a full session. You can cancel through the client portal. Please talk to me if you were forced to miss your session time due to a sudden, unpredictable event.
How can I get started?
It’s pretty easy to get started. Just send me an email and let me know a bit about what you are seeking and please include an idea of the best times to reach you. I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
